Leadership

Phillip Hamnett

Founder and Geschäftsführer of Hamnett Enterprises. A physicist by training and an engineer by trade, who spent seven years running technology at a regulated fintech before building this holding.

The founder

One person, accountable for the work

Phillip Hamnett founded Hamnett Enterprises and runs it from Eschborn, outside Frankfurt. He is the sole Geschäftsführer of the holding and Vorstand of TalentAid AG.

The path here ran from particle physics research at CERN, through embedded software for Airbus, to seven years as co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Chintai, a digital-asset platform built to survive financial regulation. The same thread runs through all of it. Large amounts of data, systems that have to be right the first time, and small teams that ship.

He works in English and German, reads every enquiry himself, and does the work rather than handing it to an account manager. When a client buys a strategy engagement, the person writing the analysis is the person who ran the technology at a licensed fintech. When they buy software, he writes it.

Career

Twelve years of building things that had to work

  1. 2018 to 2025

    Chintai

    Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer

Co-founded Chintai and led its technology for seven years, taking a platform for issuing digital assets from a blank page to a regulated product. Carried ultimate responsibility for architecture, product, interface, and security, and led a team of 13 across engineering, product, and security. The company raised $7.5 million, and Phillip was named a key officer in its custodial licence application to the Monetary Authority of Singapore. He stepped back from operations in 2025. Hamnett Enterprises holds a minority stake to this day.

  2. 2017 to 2018

    Philotech GmbH

    Project Leader

Led teams building embedded software systems, principally for Airbus. Delivered to the required quality inside the agreed time and cost budget, in an industry whose tolerance for defects is close to zero.

  3. 2012 to 2017

    DESY

    Researcher, high-energy particle physics

Researched high-energy particle physics at DESY, one of Germany’s national research centres, working on data from the ATLAS detector at CERN in Geneva. Built software that analysed enormous datasets and pulled real signals out of extreme noise. That turns out to be good training for deciding which numbers in a company actually mean something.

  4. 2008 to 2012

    University of Manchester

    Master of Physics

Four years of physics, which is where the habit of checking the arithmetic before believing the conclusion came from.

What that adds up to

Why it matters to a client

Depth that reaches the code

Advice comes from someone who has built and shipped the systems under discussion. Nothing here is relayed from a specialist you never meet.

Regulated-industry discipline

Seven years at a fintech under financial-services scrutiny, and before that embedded software for aerospace. Both teach the same lesson about what a wrong system costs.

Small teams, real output

A team of 13 at Chintai, and a holding that runs its own administration on automation with a headcount of one. He knows what a small company can do and where it needs help.

Written, reversible decisions

Every material decision at the holding is logged with its reasoning and the trigger that would reverse it. Client work is held to the same standard.
