Situation

Hamnett Enterprises needed a website that does what we tell clients a website should do: load fast, read well in German and English, describe the business to search engines and answer engines in the code they read, and collect nothing about a visitor that the law would make us explain. The site is also the reference build for the websites practice, so it had to pass an outside audit rather than our own opinion of it.

Approach

We built the site on a static framework with German as the default language at the bare addresses and English under its own prefix, one canonical address per page, language annotations on every translated page, a sitemap and RSS feed, structured data for the organisation and every service, self-hosted fonts, no cookies and no third-party requests. The first Semrush Site Audit ran on 16 July 2026, the day the domain went live.

Crawl 1 scored 95% with 12 errors and 6 warnings. All 12 errors came from one cause: the service pages used a structured-data type that Google treats as a physical shop, which demands a street address on every page. We switched to the plain Service type. The German legal pages moved to German addresses, card links got descriptive text, and the security header was extended to the www host.

Crawl 2 scored 98% with two warnings left. The language switcher had pointed at redirects on single-language pages, and one German post title ran past the length search engines display. Crawl 3 reached 99%. Semrush counts main-content words more strictly than a plain word count, so the blog index and the contact page still read as thin. Longer excerpts, an extended introduction, and a fourth contact question fixed that.

Result

Crawl 4 on 17 July 2026 scored 100% Site Health, 0 errors, 0 warnings, 35 healthy pages out of 37 crawled (the other two are intended redirects), and 100% on Semrush’s AI Search Health check. Crawl 5, run after the from-prices were added to all 34 sub-services, held the score. Nothing was excluded from the audit to reach the number. Every finding was fixed on the site, and the audit register in the repository records each one.

The site has run since then with no cookie banner, because there is nothing to consent to, and every page describes the firm to search engines and AI assistants through structured data and an llms.txt file.

What it cost

This was our own site, built and audited by the founder. For a client the same scope, a five to eight page bilingual business site with a content management system and the audit run to a clean score, is the published business-website price from €6,500, quoted as a fixed price before work starts and covered by our 100% money-back guarantee: full refund on request within 14 days of delivery. Hosting is a third-party cost and sits outside the guarantee.
